Artificial intelligence usage policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use Policy

Administración y Organizaciones Journal adheres to the Heredia Declaration on the Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), as well as to the Chapultepec Principles: Declaration on Ethics and Good Practices for the Use and Development of Artificial Intelligence in Mexico and the Decalogue of Ethics for the Use of Artificial Intelligence issued by the Metropolitan Autonomous University (Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana). The Journal is committed to promoting respect for human rights, transparency, accountability, and academic integrity at all times.

1. General Principle

AI is regarded solely as an auxiliary tool in the preparation and editing of manuscripts and must not replace the authorship, creativity, or intellectual responsibility of authors. Authorship and responsibility for the content always remain with human individuals.

2. Disclosure Requirement

Any use of AI in the preparation, review, or editing of a manuscript must be explicitly disclosed by the author(s). Such disclosure must include:

  • The name and version of the AI tool used.
  • The purpose of its use (e.g., language editing, table generation, spell checking, among others).
  • The section(s) of the manuscript in which AI was used.
  • The extent of subsequent human intervention and review.

This disclosure must be included in the manuscript under a section entitled “AI Use Statement.”

3. Human Oversight and Editorial Ethics

Editors and reviewers retain full responsibility for the evaluation, validation, and publication of submitted content. AI tools cannot be considered authors nor bear intellectual responsibility for the work. Any content generated with the assistance of AI must be reviewed and validated by human individuals before its final inclusion in the manuscript.

4. Transparency and Traceability

The use of AI must be transparent, documented, and traceable, ensuring the integrity, reproducibility, and scientific rigor of published articles. The use of AI to manipulate results, data, or conclusions is strictly prohibited.

5. Consequences of Misuese

The use of AI without proper disclosure, or for purposes that compromise the integrity of a manuscript, may be considered an ethical breach and may result in the rejection of the manuscript or, if already published, the issuance of a correction or retraction.

6. Editorial Responsibility

The editorial team is committed to reviewing and verifying AI use disclosures, requesting clarifications or modifications when necessary, and communicating this policy clearly to authors, reviewers, and readers.
