Presentation
Administración y Organizaciones is a biannual, continuous-publication journal published by the Metropolitan Autonomous University (Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, UAM), through the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Xochimilco Unit, Mexico City, Mexico. The journal specializes in the fields of Management and Organizational Analysis.
The journal serves as a platform for disseminating advances and results of applied research capable of generating new academic perspectives in local contexts while contributing to the development of theories, methodologies, and contemporary debates in Latin American organizational analysis.
Focus and Scope
Administración y Organizaciones was established in November 1998 with the aim of fostering a closer understanding of administrative and organizational realities through works derived from rigorous scientific research related to the analysis of organizations.
The journal is intended for the academic community, including researchers, faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as government officials, decision-makers, and members of the scientific community from private, public, and social organizations interested in the topics addressed by the journal.
All articles undergo peer review under a double-blind review process. The journal follows a continuous publication model and publishes content throughout the year. Complete issues are released online in January and July of each year.
Administración y Organizaciones does not charge authors any fees for manuscript submission, peer review, or publication.

Administración y Organizaciones publishes original theoretical and applied research articles in Spanish, English, and Portuguese in the following thematic areas:

Editorial Roles and Responsibilities
Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief serves as the principal manager of the editorial process of Administración y Organizaciones. The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee and coordinate all stages of the editorial workflow, ensuring that every manuscript is handled fairly and in accordance with established academic and ethical standards.
The Editor-in-Chief contributes to the journal’s strategic development, promotes the submission of high-quality manuscripts, and collaborates closely with the Editorial Board and peer reviewers. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for ensuring that all published articles comply with the journal’s ethical and academic standards.
Editorial decisions are not influenced by the Editor-in-Chief’s personal opinions; rather, the role is focused on safeguarding the integrity, objectivity, and transparency of the peer-review process.
Co-Editor
The Co-Editor assists the Editor-in-Chief throughout all stages of the editorial process. Responsibilities include the preliminary evaluation of manuscripts, coordination of peer reviews, and monitoring the review process until completion.
The Co-Editor may also make editorial decisions in the absence of the Editor-in-Chief and works closely with the Editor-in-Chief to ensure consistency and quality in published content.
Technical Editor:
The Technical Editor is primarily responsible for the journal’s production processes. Duties include managing copyediting, proofreading, formatting, and layout preparation of accepted manuscripts.
The Technical Editor ensures that all published documents comply with the journal’s style and formatting guidelines. Additionally, this role manages the publication platform and guarantees that articles are properly accessible and available online.
Editorial Assistant:
The Editorial Assistant provides administrative and logistical support to the editorial team. Responsibilities include managing correspondence with authors and reviewers, organizing files, and maintaining editorial databases.
The Editorial Assistant also assists in preparing and distributing communications and coordinating editorial schedules. This position plays a key role in optimizing internal workflows and improving the efficiency of the editorial process.
Editorial Process
1. Manuscript Submission:
Authors submit their manuscripts in accordance with the journal's guidelines. This stage includes verification of compliance with formatting and content requirements.
2. Preliminary Review:
The editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess whether the manuscript complies with the journal's author guidelines. Recommendations for improvement are provided, and the subsequent steps of the editorial process are determined. Authors must implement the suggested revisions in order to proceed with the evaluation process.
3. Originality Screening:
The manuscript's originality is verified using specialized software designed to detect potential plagiarism or duplication of previously published content.
4. Double-Blind Peer Review:
The manuscript is submitted to expert reviewers who are unaware of the authors' identities, and vice versa, in order to ensure an impartial evaluation. Reviewers assess the manuscript based on its originality, relevance, methodological rigor, and contribution to the field of study.
5. Editorial Decision:
Based on the reviewers' evaluations, an editorial decision is made regarding the manuscript. Possible decisions include:
- Accept.
- Accept with revisions.
- Resubmit for further review.
- Reject.
6. Technical Review:
Once accepted, the manuscript undergoes a technical review to ensure compliance with all formatting and style requirements established by the journal.
7. Layout and Production:
The article is prepared for publication through layout design and production processes. This stage includes copyediting, graphic design, and final adjustments to ensure a professional presentation.
8. Metadata and DOI Assignment:
Metadata and a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) are assigned to the article, facilitating its indexing and retrieval in academic databases.
9. Publication:
The article is published on the journal's platform and made freely accessible to all readers.
Peer Review Process
Administración y Organizaciones is a peer-reviewed journal whose manuscripts are evaluated by academic reviewers external to the journal's editorial team. The journal maintains a reviewer database composed of approximately 70% experts external to the publishing institution.
Reviewers are selected according to the subject matter of the manuscript and their areas of expertise. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated by at least two reviewers through a double-blind peer-review process before being considered for publication.
The journal evaluates manuscripts according to the following criteria:
a) Editorial relevance
b) Strength and coherence of the argumentation
c) Clarity of presentation
d) Compliance with style guidelines
e) Originality of the content
Each manuscript undergoes an originality assessment using the iThenticate system. Subsequently, an editorial screening is conducted to verify that the manuscript aligns with the journal's scope and complies with its editorial guidelines.
If the manuscript successfully passes this stage, it is sent to two subject-matter specialists for peer review. Authors will then receive the reviewers' reports and recommendations for improving their manuscripts, except in cases where the submission is rejected.
Throughout the entire review process, the anonymity of both authors and reviewers is strictly maintained.
Possible Review Outcomes
- Accepted without revisions or with minor revisions (no further peer review required).
- Revisions required and resubmission requested.
- Rejected.

The research journals of the Metropolitan Autonomous University, Xochimilco Unit, implement various preservation processes aimed at ensuring the long-term accessibility of the digital documents they manage and publish, despite technological changes over time.
The Institutional Repository of the Metropolitan Autonomous University, Xochimilco Unit, is designed to integrate, organize, share, and disseminate the intellectual output generated through the academic, scientific, and research activities of the university community.
Complete issues of the journal are archived by the UAM Library and are updated nightly through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN).
